Pearl Academy hosts an Open House on PG Courses

Mumbai 16th Feb 2018: Pearl Academy, India’s leading institute in design, fashion, business and media today organised an ‘Open House’ session at its Mumbai campus on ‘Creative Careers and Opportunities’ for students from different colleges.

The day-long event included a panel discussion with eminent speakers such as Dr Bhaskar Das, Executive President, DB Group, Ms Monika Murthy, Actor, Amitesh Banerjee, Head-Strategy & Market Development, Vinson World, Kaleem Khan, luxury industry expert, Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury, School Head, School of Media, Pearl Academy and Neeraj Paul, Fashion Management Specialist, Pearl Academy among others. The “Open House” was followed by interactive workshops on Business, Luxury, Radio, Journalism, Mass Communication & Photography helmed by the industry stalwarts. Students interacted with industry professionals and gained valuable insights into these sectors.

The institute will conduct a merit-based scholarship test on February 24, 2018 for its two new undergraduate and postgraduate courses in media and communication. The test will be conducted at Pearl Academy’s campuses in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kolkata and Patna. The last date for submission of applications is February 20, 2018. Selected students will be eligible for 50% merit scholarship on the tuition fees. A total of 40 seats are available, for the courses beginning July 2018.

Under the 3-year UG level, students can opt for Media & Communication (Journalism/Entertainment) and Advertising & Marketing courses. The 2-year PG level courses are open to graduates from any stream.

Speaking at the event, Ruchita Verma, Director, Mumbai Centre, said: “Today’s session aimed at providing students with a sense of the career possibilities in media, luxury and retail sectors. The interactive workshops and Open House sessions are part of Pearl Academy’s endeavours to prepare students to become industry leaders of the future.”

Prof Ujjwal K. Chowdhury, Head of School of Media, said, “I am honoured to be a part of Pearl Academy as the Head of School of Media. I believe it is our key responsibility to enhance the skill-sets of our students and help them achieve increased efficiency and new creativity levels in their respective fields. Scholarship tests like these provide an effective platform to students where they can hone and assess their aptitude level. I am sure we will rapidly evolve and come up with more such tests in the future as well.”

The panelists discussed with the students the various facets of the media industry and the plethora of career industries that the former has to offer. They stressed how convergence as a term in the media is evolving with each passing day and how the future of the communication is to be always ahead of your competitors. The workshops were the concluding part of the Open House session and the students left with something to think about along with learning something new.
