Nanakmatta

Nanakmatta Dam is one of the city's most popular attractions. The dam, which was finally built on the Sarayu River, which forms the Nanak Saga, functions not only as a dam but also as a place to relax.

In fact, the lake is a great place for picnics, boating, and fishing, adding beauty to this charming town. The calm waters and tranquil air of the lake contribute to a tranquil environment. The dam is about 56 km from Rudrapur. Gurudwara Nanakmatta Sahib is a historic sacred shrine for Sikhs and is visited by many believers every month. In fact, the city is named after Gurdwara.  Located on the Khtima Panipat Road between Khatima and Sitarganj, this place has a deep history. Guru Nanak Dev Ji is said to have come to this place during the third Udashi in 1514. This place is associated with a very fascinating legend. Doodh Wala Khuan is near Nanakmatta Gurudwara, meaning a fountain of milk. The story looks like this. When Bai Maldana Nanakuji expressed his desire for milk, Nanakuji suggested to Yogi to ask about the large number of cows they own. Baoli Sahib is located near the Nanak Sagar Dam on the banks of the Ghaghar River, about 2 km from Nanakmatta Gurudwara. Legend has it that Yogi used magical powers to dry the water throughout the region and asked Nanak Dev Ji to return the water.
