Pithoragarh Gangolihat Sightseeing


Located at an average altitude of 1,514 meters above sea level, Pithoragarh is a small area cut from the Almora district of Uttarakhand. The city is located in the center of a valley called "Soar" and is often referred to as the miniaturized Kashmir Valley. Also known as the Ascot Musk Deers Reserve, it covers an area of ​​600 square kilometers. Elevations in this area vary between 600 and 7,000 meters above sea level and are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Different types of wildlife such as musk deer, leopards, brown bears, and jungle cats, as well as different inhabitants and migratory birds, can be found here. One of the largest glaciers in the Himalayas, the Laram Glacier is at an altitude of about 2,300 meters above sea level. Importantly, glaciers are one of the most popular trekking routes in Uttarakhand, attracting several tourists each year. The maximum altitude of trekking is about 3,900 meters above sea level and can be completed in about 810 days. Fort Pithoragarh was built during King Chand's reign and was rebuilt in 1789 by Gurkha soldiers. The fort is on a hill near the outskirts of the town of Pithoragarh. The fort is now in ruins and most of the buildings are in ruins, but this place offers beautiful views of the surrounding valley.
