Rudraprayag is a scenic spot and a popular stopover for pilgrims traveling to Kedarnath and Badrinath. It is a religiously important goal, as Narada is believed to have been elevated by Lord Shiva in Rudra's avatar. The temple of Rudra Playag, a famous religious temple in the area, is the very place where the Alakananda and Mandakini rivers meet after being baptized by Lord Shiva. Therefore, this is the main temple of Narada's religious history, after which the place was named Rudra Playag. Augustmuni Temple is the place where Augustmuni worshiped Lord Shiva, which is located in the village of Augustmuni in Rudra Playag. There is a temple dedicated to August Kund and Lord Shiva, and during Baisaki there is a spectacular celebration attended by many enthusiastic Hindu pilgrims.
