Tehri Garhwal
The Tehri Garhwal, built on the Bhagirathi River, is the main dam in the region. The whole place is absolutely picturesque and surrounded by greenery. People in the area can also enjoy a variety of adventure activities such as trekking, boating, and hiking. The Tefri Dam is India's tallest hydroelectric dam and the eighth tallest dam in the world. It draws water from the two glorious Himalayan rivers, the Bagirati and Birangana Rivers. The Tefri Dam over the Bagirati River is also the second-largest dam in Asia. Located at the foot of the Himalayas, it is one of Tehri's most famous tourist attractions. The Tefridam Reservoir forms a huge lake known as Lake Tefri. The lake offers numerous water sports activities such as scuba diving, jet skiing, rafting, and kayaking. Again, a two-day annual festival, the Tefuri Lake Festival is full of excitement and lots of water sports activities. Water sports aside, Tehri Garhwal has several fascinating hiking trails. Chamber is a town located 18 km from Terrigalwar in Himachal Pradesh. There are many attractions such as the beautifully shining Lake Kajar, Lake Manimahesh, Karatop Wildlife Refuge, and Chamela Dam. The Karatop Wildlife Sanctuary is home to wildlife such as muntjac, jackals, and leopards.
