Manas National Park is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, Project Tiger Reserve, Elephant Reserve, and Biosphere Reserve in Assam. The only leopard reserve in Assam and famous for its rare gold langur and the red panda, Manas is one of the most preserved national parks in India. Manas is known not only for its rich variety but also for its beautiful landscapes and natural habitats that include a series of forested hills, alluvial grasslands, and evergreen forests. It is home to the second-largest tiger in India. It is also famous for its population of wild buffalo. Manas has the highest number of endangered species from India as listed in the IUCN Red Book. One can easily see rhinos and tigers as they sit on an elephant. Forest officials plan to ride elephants from Mathanguri to visit Manasseh. You can see tea pickers doing their work in groups during tea time. The best time to see the work is October until the first week of December and from mid-March onwards. Both summer and winter are great times to visit Manas. The park is open from October to May every year. During the monsoon season (from June to September, sometimes in mid-October), the park remains closed, as Assam experiences heavy rains and floods every year.
