Kurukshetra is a city in the Indian state of Haryana. Also known as Dharmakshetra and "Land of the Bhagavad Gita". Kurukshetra, also known as Kuruksetra, also known as Thanesar, is a town, northeast of the Haryana region, in northwestern India. It is connected by road and train to Delhi (south) and Amritsar (north). The urban center of Kurukshetra joins Thanasar, an important Hindu pilgrimage center. The city's main lake is said to have been built by Raja Kuru, the ancestor of the Kauravas and Pandavas of the Hindu poem Mahabharata. The name Kurukshetra means "field of Kuru."
