Kargil Suru valley


The picturesque valleys, the remnants of the warlike past, and the quaint old gompas and monasteries date back to the connection between the region and Tibet. All can be found around Kargil. The Suru Valley, drained by the Suru River, a tributary of the Indus River, offers breathtaking views of the mountains. The Suru Valley is a famous tourist attraction in Kargil, mainly because of its stunning beauty that you can explore on foot while enjoying photography. There are also several picnic spots for day trips, such as Parkachik, Damsna, Tulus, and Stackpa. There are several attractions in the Suru Valley. Visit Sankoo, known as one of Ladakh's lushest meadows, dotted with wild roses and plantations. Kartse Khar is an ancient Buddhist village dating back to the 7th century with a 7-foot Gautam Buddha statue. The Panny Car is an abandoned yet very beautiful fortress built by Zorawarsin with spectacular views of the Nunkun Mountains. Another must-see place in the Suru Valley, Langham, is the place where the last people live. There is an 18th-century monastery that houses about 40 monks.
