LAMAYURU Gompa, also known as Moonland, is an important stop on the Lekalgil Road. Hidden in the mountain folds of this mysterious land. One of the oldest gompas in Ladakh and Spiti. Yes, to my surprise, there is such a place! Ramayurgonpa Monastery. Located in LAMAYURU at an altitude of 3510 meters, this gompa is one of the largest and oldest gompas in Ladakh. It may sound sacred, but the happiness and harmony of this place is sacred! Built-in the 11th century, this monastery was the birthplace of the famous Indian Buddhist Mahasiddha Naropa. The monastery is known for its interesting history and the traditional festivals of Yuru Kabgyat.
