Bharatpur is located in the Braj region of Rajasthan province, approximately 38 kilometers from Mathurra. Bharatpur is famous for Keoladeo National Park, home to more than 370 species of animals and birds. It is recognized as one of the most popular birds for feeding and breeding. In 1982 the park was declared a National Park, and later in 1985, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This National Park, in an area known as Ghana, was the winter home of the Siberian Crane; an endangered species Bharatpur is immersed in its culture and the legend can be heard for miles. Rulled once by thousands of rulers, from the Jats to the Nizams, to the British imperialists, Bharatpur has its own monarchy, located in places like Lohagarh Fort. An offbeat outpost serving the traditional culture of Rajasthani, religious times mark the dedication of the country's people. Also known as Lohagarh, it is part of the gold tourist triangle of Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, the area attracts a large number of national and international tourists every year. Bharat is also part of the NCR (National Capital Region). Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, this park is a must-visit if you are a bird lover, but it is not something you should see for people who do not know the difference between a lark and a peacock.
