Located near the town of Jaisalmer, Desert National Park is one of the largest in the country, covering an area of 3162 square miles. The park covers a large area from Jaisalmer / Barmer all the way to the India-Pakistan border. Despite being in the middle of a barren, dry, and sandy desert, the park offers a wonderful view of wildlife such as camels, the desert fox, the Bengal fox, the chinkara, the wolves, the desert cat, and the Blackbuck. The impressive landscape offers everything one can expect from the desert ecosystem, craggy rocks and the bottoms of an integrated salt lake, central areas, and permanent dunes. The dunes cover about 20 percent of the park. The whole area is covered with thornbushes, cacti, and a few desert plants. Besides that various eagles, harriers, falcons, buzzards, kestrel, vultures, short-toed eagles, tawny eagles, spotted falcons, laggard falcons, and kestrel.
