kumbhalgarh

Kumbhalgarh is a fort located on the Aravalli Range of Rajasmand district in Rajasthan. Merwar Fortress, Kumbhalgarh is one of the World Heritage Sites and is the second largest castle in India behind Chittorgarh Fort. Covering 12 square miles [12 sq km], the walls of the castle stretch at an altitude of about 36 km and are one of the tallest walls in the world, second only to the Great Wall of China! Built during the reign of Rana Kumbha in the 15th century, Chittorgarh is one of the largest in the world. Located 82km from Udaipur, makes a great one-day trip. If you are interested in another trip, do not miss the foot and horse trips planned at Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. The safari starts at Kumbhalgarh Fort and reaches Ganerao while crossing the sanctuary. The best part of this safari is the opportunity to see Antelopes, Chinkaras, and Neelgais. Kumbhalgarh needs one full day to visit the most important attractions. There are a few beautiful places around Kumbhalgarh like Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Mount Abu, and Jodhpur that can be visited by adding a few days to the trip. The birthplace of the magnificent Maharana Pratap, Kumbhalgarh has some very medieval architecture and is a must-visit in Rajasthan.
