Osian (Osiyan), also known as 'Khajuraho of Rajasthan', has gained this name because of its many temples, some of which are sensual. It is an ancient temple city located about 40 miles [65 km] north of Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan in western India. This place is very important for Jains and Hindus as some of their most important places of worship are in this beautiful city. Among the many temples the city is visited by, they stand out for their beauty and splendor Surya or Sun Temple, the Sachiya Mata Temple, and the large Jain temple dedicated to Lord Mahavira. Given a pile of golden sand dunes all around, one can get a wonderful spiritual view of the area from the Sachiya Mata Temple. Osian City is also known as Khajuraho of Rajasthan due to the presence of tons of amazing temples famous for their architectural beauty and amazing design. This small town was once the capital of the state of Marwar and has many magnificent temples. Osian is a great place if you want to experience the desert but don't want to visit the very famous Jaisalmer.
