History:
After the French settled, the name Mahe (Mayaji) appeared on the map of India. The French history of Mahe began in 1721, when the British established an empire on the west coast and the French were urged to establish control over Mahe. The first place in Kerala was Thalassery. But then they chose Mahe as a safe headquarters for British troops. In 1779, British troops regained Mahe from French troops. In 1817 the French regained Mahe. At that time, the entire Malabar region was under British control, forcing the French to impose certain restrictions on Mahe.
