Bir is famous for its Tibetan colony and various Buddhist monasteries worth visiting. The Tibetan colony is one of the first places for Tibetan refugees in India and was founded in 1962 by those fleeing Chinese occupation in Tibet. Bir is a small town located in the Kangra region of Himachal Pradesh. Bir Billing is a popular place located in Joginder Nagar village known for paragliding and also as a meditation town. There is an influence on Tibetan culture due to the occupation of Tibetan society in the city. Bir is considered one of the world's best paragliding springs. The departure point is called Billing and the destination is Bir and the sea level change is 800m. There is a beautiful cafe full of town that offers delicious food. People can also take short walks, visit monasteries, take a train to the nearby Jogindernagar-Pathankot Narrow Gauge, or spend a day in the tea gardens. The village of Bir is also an important center for spiritual studies and meditation. There are two parts of the town of Bir: the Tibetan Colony of Bir, which is located downhill from the town of Chowgan, and the other part the Upper Bir very green.
