Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and a popular mountain station among Indian families and newlyweds. After being the summer capital of British India, it remains the culmination of the Kalka-Shimla Railway, which was completed in 1903. At an altitude of 2,500 feet [2200 m], Shimla was the summer capital of British India. Shimla still preserves its ancient landscape with beautiful colonial buildings, a pedestrian mall, and a paved road with many shops, cafes, and restaurants. Shimla is well-connected with most cities and is just 4 hours from the nearby town of Chandigarh. The city also has an airport; However, there are not many daily flights from here. The railway station connects Shimla with systems and is famous for the Kalka-Shimla railway line; a UNESCO site on World Heritage List. The weather is pleasant for many months as tourists flock, especially during the summer months. The winters are cold and there are some snowy days from mid-December until the end of February. Shimla is often covered along with the nearby cities of Kufri, a snow-covered mountain station, and Chail, famous for its huge palace and the highest cricket ground in the world.
