History:
Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar District was separated from the Hoshiarpur and Jalandal districts of Punjab on November 7, 1995 by Afghan Army Chief Nausher Khan. Formerly known as "Nausar", over time the town was called "The Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagarhr". Nausher Khan built five forts called Haveli, but the ruins still exist.
