mandi-parashar-lake
Prashar Lake is a freshwater lake some 30 miles [50 km] north of Mandi, with a pagoda-like three-story temple dedicated to the wise Prashar. The lake is located at an altitude of 2,500 feet [2730 m] above sea level and holds a sanctuary there. Surrounded by the snowcapped peaks of Dhauladhar in the Kullu Valley, the area overlooks the rapidly flowing river Beas. The lake has an island floating on it, and its true depth is unclear. The lake freezes in winter but glows during the rest of the year. Traditionally, it is believed that the lake was built as a result of being hit by a stick (Gurj) by Rishi. Prashar and water flowed out and sprouted in the lake. There are not many tourist attractions in Mandi, but there are quiet lakes, newly built dams, and ancient temples that one can visit. The village is also an ideal place for a quick family outing. Have a great view throughout the trek up to Prashar Lake. It is located at an altitude of 2730 meters above sea level. Prashar Lake is surrounded by the spectacular Dhauladhar Ranges. It is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and has beautiful scenery.
