About Shahdara


History:

Shahdara is a geographical region of the city of Delhi, India, located on the banks of the Yamuna River. It is one of the oldest places in Delhi and is an integral part of the place known as Planidili (Old Delhi). Shardara has developed around the Chotta Bazaar (small market) called Chandrawari Village since the 16th century. In ancient times, it was used as a passage from Meerut to Delhi. Following Chandni Chowk, Shahdara is one of the oldest suburbs in Delhi. 

Is it famous for?

Shahdara, also known locally as the "Trans Yamuna" region, is shared by both the East Derry and Northeastern Derry districts. There is also one of Delhi's oldest markets, formerly known as the "Chandrawari Village".
