Kolasib District, Aizawl

History:

Kolasib District is one of 11 districts in Mizoram, India. Kolasib is a newly created district located at the northern end of Mizoram, sharing the northern border with the Cachar district of Assam. This district was created in 1998 by spinning off the then Aizawl district. In fact, this district was created simply by upgrading an existing parcel under the Aizawl district. See Government Notice No. A.60011 / 21/95 GAD on July 29, 1998. This village was most commonly referred to as the "Cowra Chief Village".

Collasi Kolasib is the capital of the district, so agriculture with jobs in several service sectors is the dominant economy. Many grow beetle nuts, oil palms, rice, wheat, and fish.
