History:
The province of Cyprus was recorded in the province of Tuensang in 2003. It became the eleventh district in Nagaland after it was recorded. The administrative headquarters in Kiphire was established on June 16, 1952 after a review of the administrative headquarters. Another subdivision, namely, Khongsa was recorded in the Pungro subdivision taking the total number of subdivisions of the province of Cyprus to eight. The Superintendent of the first Base Area of the district was S.D. Lakhar. The district was previously part of the Tuensang region under NEFA.
