About Zunheboto District
History:
Zunheboto took its name from two collections of the words “Zunhebo” and “Kuya” in the Sumi language. Zunhebo is the name of a flowering plant with white leaves that carry a sponge as ears. Zunheboto Province was established on December 19, 1973. It is located in central Nagaland and is bounded by Mokokchung and Tuensang districts in the north, Phek district in the south, Kiphire in the east and Wokha and Kohima in the west. Zunheboto is home to the Sumi Nagas. Zunheboto got its name from the 'Land of the Heroes'.
