History:
The 13th tax district of Kerala, the Pathanamthitta district, is located on the slopes of the Western Ghats and extends to the lowland paddy fields adjacent to the Alappuzha district. It was incorporated from November 1, 1982. It was formed by incorporating various parts of the old town of Column, Alappuzha and Idukki. Pathanamthitta, also a land of culture and learning, can combine the literary talents of the second century into a single volume called Deathuti: Pathanamthitta Kavithakal.
