History:
Kangpokpi District in Manipur Province is a district recently formed by the Government of Manipur vide Govt. notice No.16 / 20/2016-R dated 08-12-2016 and subsequent administration schedule dated 14-12-2016 for the Office of the Secretary; Department of Finance, Govt. Manipur. It was opened by the Honorable Minister, of Manipur on December 15th, 2016. It is inhabited by multinational groups with natural economic and cultural backgrounds, in particular, the Kukis, Nagas, Nepal, and meiteis. The administration of Kangpokpi District is headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi. Kangpokpi District has an independent regional council.
