History:
Senapati County is located in the northern part of Manipur. It is bounded in the east by the Ukhrul District, in the west by the Tamenglong District, in the north by the Phek District of Nagaland and in the south by the Imphal East District and the Imphal West District. The Senapati region was formerly known as Manipur North District which was established on November 14, 1969, with its headquarters in Karong. The district headquarters was later relocated to Senapati on December 13, 1976. The district became known as the Senapati District w.e.f 15 July 1983.
