Ratnagiri District

History:

Ratnagiri is the birthplace of Locmania Tilak and the workplace of Swatantria Versa Valker, which is known as the land of Valdamni in Parshram. In the Middle Ages, many European travelers and religious preachers visited the Konkan coast. During the Satavahana dynasty, the Panharakaji Cave was the center of Buddhist research and dissemination. It is also mentioned in many places that there was maritime trade between Ratnagiri and abroad. Ratnagiri is the land of three Ratnagiri districts made famous by the Freedom Fighter Vinayak Damodar Sabakar, who was captured by the British government in Ratnagiri.
