Sindhudurg District

History: 

District Sindhudurg is in the southern part of the Konkan region, between the Arabian Sea and the Sahyadri Mountains. On May 1, 1981, another new Sindhudurg district was established after the six Tarkas of the former Ratnagiri district, Kudar, Bengala, Sawantwadi, Malban, Kankavli and Devgado, were carved. The Sindhudurg district is surrounded by the Kolhapur district on the east, the Ratnagiri district on the north, Goa on the south, and the Arabian Sea on the west.
