About Dholpur
History:
The original city was founded in the 11th century by Raja Doran Deo, called Dholpur. This name has since been given to Dholpur. The current city was established north of the original city to avoid invasion by the Chambal River. It was the capital of the former feudal kingdom that became part of Rajasthan in 1949. Dholpur or Dhawalpuri was founded by Dholya Nagas in 500 AD, and the city was probably renamed to Dholpur after him. It was one of the princely states of India.
