History:
Belagavi (formerly known as "Venugrama" or "Bamboo Village") is one of the oldest, strongest, most prominent and most cultivated historic sites in the highlands of the Western Ghats. It is one. The Old Town district of cotton and silk weavers stands brilliantly beside the British Cantonment on a modern, bustling tree-lined avenue. Located in a zone of cultural transition between Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa, there is a known ancient time dating back to the 2nd century. Also known as Malenadu or Rainland, the vegetation here is green all year round. Belagavi is in the middle of Mumbai and Bangalore.
