History:
Shiva Moga, according to traditional derivations, the name refers to Lord Shiva. Legend has it that there was an ashram of the famous sage "Durvasa" known for his keen personality. He used to put a pot of sweet herbs on the stove. Once, the cowherds I met by chance tasted a drink out of curiosity and called it "Shihimoge". It was later called "Shivamogga". Three Iron Age megalithic sites with different megaliths were also found in the area.
