Tumakuru District
History:
The district was formed in 1832 as the Chitradurga Division during the time of the British Commission of Sir Misul Mark Kabon, including the current Chitradurga and Tumakul districts. The district's first collector (term 1835-1861) who was heavily responsible for establishing the Munro administrative system. [8] In 1862, the Chitradurga Division was abolished, and Tumakul (Nandidurga Division) and Chitradurga (Nagar Division) were established as separate districts by Ruwin Bentham Bowling.
