History:
The name Hazaribagh means land of a thousand gardens. In ancient times the area was covered with dense jungles, especially out of the reach of foreigners, and inhabited by independent tribesmen. The village became a city in 1790 and lasted until 1884. This led to the arrival of the old organized city, now known as Boddam Bazar. Hazaribagh Central Prison remained a terrorist cell because of the imprisonment of many freedom fighters.
