History:

Ariyalur District is an administrative district, one of 38 districts in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Ariyalur region was recorded in the Perambalur region on January 1, 2001. During the Sangam period, Ariyalur was under the control of the Cholas of Uraiyur and the Malavar King of Kollimalai ruled by Ori, who was famous for his archery skills.
