History:
Karur is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Karur is the administrative headquarters of the Karur region. Located on the banks of the Amaravathi, Kaveri and Noyyal rivers, the Region has rich and diverse cultural heritage. The name Karur probably got its name from Karuvoor Thevar, one of the nine devotees who sang Thiruvichaippa, divine music. He is one of the largest composers among the nine writers of Thiruvichaippa.
