About Salem District
History:
Salem is one of 38 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. The district is now divided into Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Namakkal districts. The history of the East Godavari region, like all of Andhra, may be traced back to the Inanda period. Mahapadma Nanda, founder of the Inanda dynasty. The subsequent history of the Inanda dynasty is unknown, except that, the last emperor Dhana Nanda was overthrown by Chandraguptha Maurya in 322 B.C.
