History:

Kanyakumari District is one of 38 provinces in the province of Tamil Nadu and the southernmost state of India. It ranks second only in the Tamil Nadu region. It was part of the princess state of Travancore in colonial times before the liberation of India; four of the eight in the Thiruvananthapuram district were divided by the former Travancore State. The city was later renamed Kanyakumari by the Government of India and the Government of Madras.
