About Adilabad
History:
The province got its name from Adilabad, its capital city named after Bijapur governor Ali Adil Shah. The region was for a long time not a unit of homogenius and its parts were ruled from time to time by the nasties. Originally this was not a full-fledged district but a small district called Sirpur-Tandur formed in AD 1872 with Edlabad (Adilabad), Rajura and Sirpur as part of its talukas. In 1905 the status of this small district was elevated to that of an independent district with headquarters in Adilabad.
