History:

Gandhinagar State is part of the state of Gujarat, India, headquartered in Gandhinagar, the capital of the country. Edited in 1964. Gandhinagar, a city, the capital of the state of Gujarat, in northwestern India. It is located on the banks of the Sabarmati River, north of Ahmadabad. Gandhinagar was named after Mohandas K. Gandhi, the leader of the Indian nationalist movement. A city built to replace Ahmadabad as its capital, the city began in 1966. The provincial government offices were transferred to Gandhinagar in 1970, and the city later became a center of trade and culture in Gujarat.
