About Morbi

History:

It was established on August 15, 2013, along with a few other districts, on the 67th day of India's Independence. The region is named after the city of Morbi. The name of the city of Morbi (literally meaning the city of peacocks) is probably derived from the King of Bhuj. Morbi city is the regional capital. The region has 5 talukas - Morbi, Maliya, Tankara, Wankaner (formerly in the Rajkot region), and Halvad (formerly in the Surendranagar region). In 1947, India gained its independence and Morbi joined India.
