History:
Vadodara, also known as Baroda, is a large city in the Indian state of Gujarat. The second largest city in Gujarat after Ahmedabad. Vadodara is located on the banks of the Vishwamitri River. In the 9th century, Present Akota became known as Ankottaka, a small town known for its Jainism vicinity of the Vishwamitri River. The capital is also known as Virakshetra or Viravati. Traditionally, it is a corrupt form of the Sanskrit word vatodar, meaning "in the belly of the Banyan tree".
