About Sabarkantha

History:

Sabarkantha District is one of the 33 districts of Gujarat district in India. During the reign of Western Satrap, the region was known as Shwabhra. The region is under the rule of Satrap Rudradama in 150 A.D. as shown in Ashoka's Major Rock Edicts in Junagadh. The river in this region is named Shwabhravati. The region is also named after the auxiliary inscription Gaṇapāṭha. The present-day Sabarkantha region was formed in 1949 with a combination of 29 districts. When the old state of Bombay was split in two in 1960, Sabarkantha became part of the newly formed Gujarat.

What is your reputation?

It is famous because we can find here the ancient Jain sandstone temples of Pasharvanath and Neminath as well as the old Shiva temple. Sabarkantha District has a famous exhibition of the Chitra Vichitra Fair in Gunbhakhari village.
