About Kendujhar District
History:
The entire Keonjhar region was a prince's country before its alliance with Odisha. From history it is revealed that part of the old Khijjinga area with its headquarters in Khijjinga Kota, is associated with modern Khiching. It became a separate province from Jyoti Bhanja as the ruling elite sometime in the first half of the 12th century A.D. During the reign of Pratap Balabhadra Bhanja (1764-1792 A.D.) two small settlements of Tillo and Jujhpada. This was recognized as part of the Kendujhar in Sanad which was given to the East India Company by Raja Janardan Bhanj in 1804.
