Sundargarh was the capital of the ruling Gangpur Province until 1948 The two provinces of Gangapur and Bonai formed the present-day province of Sundargarh, thanks to the unification of the princely states in 1948. It is understood that this region was built in ancient times, the territory of South Kosala. Sundergarh is a town in the Sundergarh region of the Indian state of Odisha. As of the 2011 census, the municipality had a population of 45,036. Sundargarh is known as the industrial district of Odisha.
