History:
Dhubri (Pron: ˈdhubri) is an ancient city and the capital of the Dhubri district of Assam, India. The word "Duburi" comes from the legendary woman Netai Duburi. Today's Dubri district is one of the three civic plots of the former Goalpara district, founded in 1876 during the period of British rule. In 1879, the district headquarters moved from Goalpara to Dubri. In 1983, the Goalpara district was divided into four separate districts, one of which is Dubri.
