Balaghat District

History:

In the early 18th century, the region was divided between two Gond dynasties; the western part of Wainganga was part of the Gond kingdom of Deogarh, and the eastern part was part of the Garha-Mandla kingdom. Balaghat District was formed in 1867 with the integration of Bhandara, Mandla and Seoni. The regional headquarters was called "Burha". However, the term was later discontinued and replaced with “Balaghat”, which was a regional name only. The province of Balaghat is the state of Madhya Pradesh in Central India.
