History:
Ratlam, historically known as Ratnapuri is a town in the northwestern part of the Malwa region of India's Madhya Pradesh province. It is the administrative headquarters of the Ratlam region, which was built in 1947 after the liberation of India. The new city of Ratlam was founded by Captain Borthwick in 1829 with regular and extended streets and well-built houses. Ratlam was once one of the Commercial Cities in Central India as a center for the extensive trade in opium, tobacco and salt. It was also famous in Malwa for its feasts called Satattas.
