Mandla District

History:

Mandla is a town with a municipality in the Mandla region in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the administrative headquarters of the Power District. The town is located on the banks of the Narmada Mandla River and was previously the capital of the Garh-Mandla Gond state. More than 30 temples were built on the site of the Narmada coast between 1680 and 1858. The Marathas, under Pesha Baji Rao, captured the city in 1739. They built a wall with poles and gates on the side facing the city.

The Great Energy Market is known for its handicrafts. In the center of Mandla town, there is Mandla Chowpati famous for his delicious Kamal Chaat and Shrinath Pawbhaji. Other snacks such as dosha, kachodi, phulki and dhabeli are served in thera.
