History:

Ujjain Province is the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. The historic city of Ujjain is the regional capital. The region is part of the Ujjain Division. An ancient city on the east bank of the Shipra River, Ujjain was the most prominent town in the Malwa plains of central India with its rich history. It emerged as a political center in central India about 600 BCE It was the capital of the ancient Avanti empire, one of the sixteen mahajanapadas.
