History:
Sheopur is a city located in Madhya Pradesh in central India. It is the administrative headquarters of Sheopur County. Sheopur is connected by a small gauge railway to Gwalior. Sheopur, the regional capital, is located on the right bank of the Sip River. The town and its fort are said to have been founded in AD 1537 by Indrasingh, an official of Gaur Rajput, an ally of the Jaipur royal palace. The Gaur Rajputs were worshipers of Lord Shiva, so they built many Shiva temples in the city.
