Dewas District

History:

Dewas is a town in the Malwa region of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The municipality was previously the seat of two princely states during the British Raj era, Dewas Junior state and Dewas Senior state, which was ruled by the Puar Maratha family. The city is the administrative capital of the Dewas region. Dewas was previously the capital of the two largest provinces of British India. The first district was founded in the first half of the 18th century by brothers Tukaji Rao and Jivaji Rao.
